Before the wink of an eye, they arrived at the girl's; the elder brother filled the clay jug he bought with water, poured it into her mouth and cured her.

The younger brother didn't find the market, and when he came back with the lamb, he tied it to a ruin, which was on the way, and went home.

"What happened?", the wife wanted a clear explanation, so he told her that he didn't find the market and didn't want to bring the lamb back home, so he tied it to a ruin which was on the way and came home.

Жена интересовалась, что же все-таки случилось, он рассказал, что не нашел рынок и, не желая обратно привести, ягненка привязал в развалинах, которых нашел по дороге и вернулся.

His wife scolded him quite much, because he came and left the lamb outside.

Once upon a time there was a hen and a rooster.

Был, говорят, не был петух и курица.

Remembering what they were saying, the hen left them where they where and returned home to do her work.

Запомнив все то, что они сказали, и оставив их между собой там же, курица обратно вернулась домой и приступила делать свою работу.

At night, when the rooster came back bringing this wet firewood again, the hen asked:

К вечеру, когда петух пришел с такими же мокрыми дровами, курица спросила, ...

"Why did you bring wet firewood today again, although you carried the axe with you?"

раз ты с собой топор тоже взял, почему ты сегодня тоже пришел с мокрыми дровами.

After the frog appeared and said "witwish", the hen struck its eye out with her beak and with a second hit broke its leg.

Появилась лягушка и когда она три раза «вит-виш» сказала, курица ударила ее клювом и выколола глаз, второй раз ударила и сломала ногу.

The hen found dry firewood and brought it back home with her.

Курица нашла сухие дрова и обратно домой вернулась.

---

Without saying anything to the hen, the next day the rooster went to the frog, shouted "tsiwliwit" three times, and the frog appeared saying "witwish", with a broken leg and a missing eye.

На следующий день, курице ничего не сказав, петух пошла к лягушке и три раза произнесла «цивли-вит». Появилась лягушка, говоря «вит-виш» со сломанной ногой и без одного глаза.

Without looking for firewood or any other things, he ran off to the hen, had a fight [with her] and broke her leg just like the frog's, seperated from her and went to his own house.

Петух не глядя на дрова и другие вещи, бегом пошел подрался с курицей и, подобно лягушке, поломал ей ногу, отгородился (ушел) от нее и начал жить в своем доме.

"I won't let you in", the hen rejected at first, "Go to the frog again, today!"

Курица вначале не хотела пустить, мол сегодня то же иди к лягушке.

The rooster gave his word, that he would not go to her anymore, and since he begged so much, the hen let him home.

Петух дал ей твердое слово, что больше не пойду к ней. Раз столько умолял, курица пустила его домой.

After that, they understood each other, the rooster didn't go to the frog at the river anymore and always brought dry firewood only.

С тех пор они поняли друг друга, больше петух не пошел на речку к лягушке и всегда приносил домой только сухие дрова.

One day, the king called the muezzin to his home and said:

В один день царь пригласил муэдзина домой и сказал ему, ...

"Tell me the wonder why you are laughing when you go up the minaret and why you are crying when you go down!"

в чем тайна того, что ты, когда поднимаешься на минарет смеешься, а когда спускаешься, плачешь.

She came to me and said:

Она подошла ко мне и сказала,

And don't you say a bad word in these three days!'

И ты мне в течение трех дней не говори плохого слова мол.

Even before any day has passed, her beauty drugged him and he pounced on to her.

Не прошло даже ни одного дня, одурманивший ее красотой он бросился на нее.

Красивая женщина, ничего не проговорив, ты коварный человек был мол, ему сказала и приказала орлу, чтобы этого человека доставил туда же.

Царь удивился рассказу муэдзина, отдал ему драгоценности, вдобавок сделал еще хороший подарок и отпустил.

According to the father's testament, the three brothers should share the heir and they should receive one Sah each.

По завещанию отца трое братьев распределили между собой наследство и всем досталось по три мерки (сах).

"What shall I do now, what shall I take?", so the boy got the idea to go through the world.

Теперь что я буду делать, что возьму мол, пришел (на сердце) замысел пошел по свету.

And she said to him as well: "If you give me your Sah of gold, I will come."

Ему тоже также сказала, что выйдет, если тот даст ему мерка золота.

Carrying the Sah of gold, the boy went to take her word (hand).

С меркой золота тот юноша пошел получать от нее слово (руки).

After getting the gold, the princess didn't agree and chased him away.

После того, как получила золото, царевна не дала согласие выйти за него и его прогнала,

"Now, that was useless!", he said and also went through the world.

теперь, все бесполезно мол, он тоже пошел по свету.

---

Then the younger brother went and asked that princess: "Be my wife!"

Потом еще младший брат пошел засватать ту же самую царевну, стань моей женой мол.

---

"I will come," she said also to him, "when you give me a Sah of gold."

Ему тоже также сказала, выйду, если дашь мерку золота.

---

And he carried it and then gave it to her.

Он отнес и отдал это ей.

---

When the princess got the gold, she chased also the youngest brother away.

Как только царевна получила золото, прогнала младшего тоже брата.

---

"If you kick a pole in the house and ask for what your heart desires, it will become true."

если пинать ногой столб, который находится дома, и просить его, то сбудутся все желания.

He got very happy, said: "Now I will go to the princess and ask her [to marry me].", and he went outside.

Он очень обрадовался и вышел, теперь пойду я мол царевну просить (засватать).

Now the boy totally ran out of possibilities.

Теперь обратно юноша впал в отчаяние.

Будучи таким огорченным, он вспомнил завещание отца.

So he got up from there and kicked the pole, and out of who-knows-where a bowl fell down.

Оттуда встал и ударил ногой столб, вдруг откуда неизвестно упал тазик.

He got up to that bowl, did his ablution, and poured the water out again.

Встал, сделал омовение в тазик, воду на улицу вылил,

"Well, shouldn't she come to me now?", the boy carried the washbowl to the princess and showed it to her.

Теперь тоже что-ли она не выходит за меня замуж мол, с тазиком пошел юноша и показал царевне.

The washbowls that you have are not like mine.

Как у меня нет, наверное, тазик, который находится у вас.

---

"If one pours water into this bowl and pours it out again, this water turns into money/jewelry", the boy told.

Если налить воду в тазик и вылить, то она превращается в драгоценности мол, рассказал юноша.

She cheated and took it away from him, not keeping her word, and chased him back.

Она у него выманила его (тазика) и обратно выгнала, не дав слова.

---

"And what shall I do now?", the boy hang his head and went home.

Что же теперь я буду делать мол, юноша с опушенной головой пошел домой.

When he was like this, 50 soldiers by foot and 50 soldiers on horses appeared out of the lute.

Когда он находился в таком состоянии, из пандура появляются пятьдесят пеших солдат, пятьдесят на коне.
