The wife's daughter however had no talent or skill whatsoever.

А дочь жены была бесталанная, без умения и способностей.

56007. K’ox eƛa yawruni barur best’al kid yetix zownanu, neła nełar urɣizi boda ħilla xecix zownanu, nełdäy yet’u-t’it’iran yetin. ⇫ ¶

His second wife didn't like her step-daughter, she didn't leave out any tricks to think about and wanted to get rid of her.

Afterwards, she poured a washbowl filled with boiling water over him, and made him bed-ridden.

Потом вылила на него таз кипящей воды, так что он не смог встать с постели.

56013. Ža xabar best’alawni eniwrno teqno. ⇫ ¶

Also her step-mother heard that story.

56014. Ža kid dicegon bac’ałiƛ’ yoqłin, neła xediwƛ’or kaɣat caxno, debi kid neširuxayt’a q’ʷat’azaq yaħna-yik’ix yičixƛin. ⇫ ¶

Although the daughter was very cleanly, she wrote a letter to her husband: "Your daughter is being wandering through the streets at night."

56015. Kaɣat koyär yäsruntow, babiya uži egirno, debi mi esiwn yexurno, nełas rok’u däq rukaranix raƛin. ⇫ ¶

As soon as the father took the letter in his hand, he said to his son: "Kill your sister, and bring me her heart to show it to me!"

56016. Idur aynosi užä nesä nesis esiy guluƛ’no zowerno ciqaɣor yižin, hudun rok’u gurħizi roqzaƛ’, yexurnoanu. ⇫ ¶

When the son came home, he seated his own sister onto a horse and led her into the forest, but because his heart felt sorry, he didn't kill her.

56017. Nełaz meča sis ɣˤʷayn bexurno, nełas rok’un roɣno, babiwder ik’in, ele däz esiws rok’uƛin. ⇫ ¶

56021. Nesä nełƛ’ay ozuri boɣinč’ey ezun ičäsi zownƛax. ⇫ ¶

He looked at her without taking his eyes of her, they say.

56022. Yisi žas neł kidbeqor roƛ’in boqno, nesä nesiz iduɣor yižin, bertenno bodin, ɣˤana-xediwłun boqno. ⇫ ¶

The boy fell in love with that girl, he took her home and they married and became a couple.

Этот юноша влюбился в нее, забрал к себе домой, сыграл свадьбу, и они стали мужем и женой.

56023. Yoƛo ƛˤeb yik’izaƛ’ortow yizir užin odin. ⇫ ¶

After less then a year had passed, a son was born to them.

Не прошло и года, как у них родился сын.

56024. Hemedur yizi yałzay sida bečedaw žek’a bertenyołxor goƛ’ixƛin yiziƛ’or xabar bayrno, hemełatowgon zamanał xediw goƛ’in ƛˤoreł ižin. ⇫ ¶

While they were living like that, the story came that a wealthy man invited to his marriage, and at this time, her husband was called to war.

56027. Elaɣor yizi gamiƛ’no zown, raładno boɣno bik’a bayx zown. ⇫ ¶

They came back in a boat to cross the sea.

Они должны были поплыть туда на лодке по морю.

56028. Raładyoł boƛor gama baynosi, nesi žek’atown ža ɣˤanabi ozƛ’o yisa oqno. ⇫ ¶

When the boat came to the middle of the sea, that man began to mock at the woman.

Когда лодка доплыла до середины моря, тот человек начал издеваться над ней.

56029. Siħirno yoqno neła ɣˤanaza harizi rodin, gama tełäy maħor yoqa yegir diƛin. ⇫ ¶

The woman was a sly person and pleaded: "Let me get out of the inside of the boat!"

56030. Užin koyä isno yisä nełaqay, narce yedu yäk’iƛin gama tełäy yoqa yegirno xecin. ⇫ ¶

He took the son from her into his hand, [thinking] "Where could she go?" and let her get out of the boat's inside.

Он взял на руки у нее сына, куда, мол, она пойдет и дал ей выйти.

56031. Maħor yaqrun yedu raładyołer k’oƛin yičin. ⇫ ¶

As soon as she came outside, she jumped into the sea.

Она вышла и бросилась в море.

56032. Elo yedu q’ˤuya gamiƛ’arno yizin ħaƛ’ala xʷasarno yoqno lilyoxar yok’ełno. ⇫ ¶

There she got to another boat, was bearly rescued and escaped to the shore.

Там ее вытащили на другую лодку, она еле спаслась и вышла на берег.

56033. Elaygon bitor yik’iƛ’oräy yedu sida beže ʕaƛar yayn. ⇫ ¶

When she went further from there, she came to a big village.

Пошла она оттуда и дошла до одного большого села.

56034. Elo yedu ʕaƛoz raʕalłix yičixozo sida q’orolayä ƛirbałix yižin. ⇫ ¶

There she was hosted by a widow living in the village's suburb.

Там ее приютила одна вдова, которая жила на краю села.

56035. Q’orolayz xabaryoƛ’ay yiłar riyn neł ʕaƛa teł nasin sida bečedaw žek’uz bertenyołer boqxosi yałrułi. ⇫ ¶

From the widow's telling, she knew that everyone in this village was going to the wedding of a rich man.

56036. Bertenyoł šeƛ’anix baħarčis šeƛ’ureł xizay yiłagon q’orolay yegirno, neła nełas šeƛ’un nełar xecin. ⇫ ¶

In order to dress up for the marriage, she let the widow look after young men's clothings and left her own clothes with her.

From there, she went further toward a mountain nearby and came to a shepherd's shelter.

Taking her for a young man, they let her help themselves.

56039. Neširuxay c’idoxor batizayt’a yiła yiziq bat’-bat’iyaw imadabi esix zown. ⇫ ¶

After it got evening and while they all gathered around the fire, she was telling them various tales.

56040. ƛˤorłäy xizor utin aynosi, nesir barun užin besunanu. ⇫ ¶

When [the husband] came back from the war, he didn't find his wife and son.

56041. Nełde sadaq egirno zawruni žek’u nesir teqno xizor utin aynƛin. ⇫ ¶

The man who was sent together with her - he heared - has returned.

Он услышал, что тот человек, который был отправлен вместе с ней, вернулся обратно.

56042. Didur, šebi roqäƛin nesiq esirnosi, nesä heresi esin, raładno k’ek’-bik’no gaman butin debi baru ɣanq’izi yoqsi, uži däq xʷasar oda k’ʷeze oqsiƛin. ⇫ ¶

When he asked: "How and what happened?", he lied: "The sea was moved and the boat turned around, your wife drowned; I was able to rescue the boy."

Когда у него спросил, что, мол, случилось, тот ему солгал: «На море поднялся шторм, лодка перевернулась, и твоя жена утонула, а сына мне удалось спасти».

56043. ʕUraw q’ʷarid oqno ža, šet’ursi dunyaltow qˤabir butin nesir nece yetixozo baruƛ’ay bat’a oqzaƛ’. ⇫ ¶

He became very sad, the world around him turned black because he got seperated from the wife he loved so much.

Муж очень огорчился, все вокруг казалось ему мрачным, так как он потерял любимую жену.

56044. Eni-babiw ʕuraw ƛ’iri butin yisiƛ’, q’ˤuya baru yownč’ey ok’äłinč’i miƛin. ⇫ ¶

His parents insisted very much on him: "You won't get away not marrying another wife."

Родители его настаивали: «Без жены тебе не обойтись».

56045. Ža xabar yisä aħyaxorkin begirnoanu, baru yowač’inƛin di hedizi oqäsiƛin, t’ok’ow ža xabar meža haqazay maħor baɣnoƛin. ⇫ ¶

These words he didn't let to his ears, "I won't marry another wife!"... "I swear!"... "Don't say that anymore!",

Он и слушать не хотел такие разговоры: «Я дал себе клятву не жениться, так что не заводите со мной такие разговоры».

56046. Hemedur ƛˤebrebi rik’in nesis uži aq’ˤiłno ʕoloqan oqno, baru yowa mix bayn nesis. ⇫ ¶

So the years went by, his son grew up and became a young man, and the time came for him to marry.

There, on the wedding, while eating and drinking, they wanted to hear various stories and tales.

56049. Elo bertenyoł žedur imadu esa koƛ’ixosi žek’utow iqinanu. ⇫ ¶

They couldn't get a man there on the wedding, who could tell tales [to them?].

56050. Bertenyołer goƛ’in zawruni žedu aħozä eƛin, eluz bˤeƛ’xo imadabi esanix beže maxšel yołäsi sis žek’u yoł. ⇫ ¶

A shepherd who was invited to the wedding, said: "There is a man with our sheep who has a big talent of telling tales.

And they sent a man, invited and brought him; "Tell us a merry tale!", they forced him.

56053. Ričiƛƛin, razi oqno ža, amma imadu esa adäza meža yiła ɣˤutkoq acno ħišin reka däqor neƛa ray. ⇫ ¶

"So be it!", he agreed, "but before I tell the tale, you must lock the door of this house and give me the key."

"He must be joking!" [they thought], as he said they locked the door and gave him the keys.

She had a daughter with no talent whatsoever.

The husband, however, had a daughter of pretty upbringing.

А у ее мужа была красивая и во всех отношениях порядочная дочь.

56062. Zamanałäy neła ɣˤanazas xediwn, nesisgon užin ozno bižin ƛˤoreł bik’inosi, nełar retäsi zown best’alawni kid elo iday yok’ek’anix. ⇫ ¶

After some time, after the woman's husband, his son and the army went to war, she wanted to remove the step-daughter from their home.
