When his dead came, the old one made a testament to his son: "After I have died, do not pity anything but share the alms and go on a journey only to the place where the sun goes up!"

When the father had been dead for forty days, at home only remained wheat to eat for one day and one ram in the shed.

One day an old man with a moustache reaching down to his waist came as a guest.

В тот день к нему пришел в гости один старик с бородой по пояс.

73013. Užä izin, miƛ’in bexayn, ƛäxuruni at’es magalun boyn. ⇫ ¶

The son got up, slaughtered the ram and made a bread from the remaining wheat.

Сын встал, зарезал овцу и испек лепешку из оставшейся муки.

73014. Eženi žek’a nesiqor eƛin, he, dey uži, sistow sis yałru miƛ’in bexays mi, idu ƛexun zawruni at’es magalun bodis, howži hudu šebi roda rok’ƛ’o yoł debezƛin. ⇫ ¶

The old man said to him: "Hey, my son, you slaughtered the one and only ram; and you made bread from the wheat that remained in your home; so what are you planning to do now?"

73015. Užä eƛin, Allahä didurƛa caxäsi resan, däz babiyan ƛirba ayruxort’a bˤeƛ’es šebin rexayx zows, sida qułkin ža bišan kamin (giħiłno) ƛexunč’u ža, din hemedurtow ƛäxunč’iƛin. ⇫ ¶

The boy said: "God might have written it somehow; my father used to slaughter a sheep for every guest who came, and he wasn't without food for even a day; so I will be as well."

Юноша ответил: «Не знаю, как Аллах предписал; мой отец тоже резал овец для гостей и ни одного дня не оставался без еды, наверное, я тоже не останусь».

73016. Xizyogon eženi žek’a eƛin, howži deber sis iman yołäsi baru yiča yay, nełał xizay oqa deber zaman bayn. ⇫ ¶

Then the old man said: "Now you need to have a faithful wife, the time has come to go after her!

Because no one invited him inside, he stood there upright at the gate like an orphan.

73025. Zamanaƛ’aza yeda sida šebi eƛa äynč’iru žek’a tełxor ižin, sida ɣˤanazagon šešoƛ’no oɣno. ⇫ ¶

After some time, a man unbeknownst to him lead him inside and a woman invited him to dance.

73026. Xizyo yisä eƛin, yedu dey baħaray meža šida xedyox yegirxoƛin. ⇫ ¶

Afterwards he said: "Why do you marry off my fiancee to another husband?"

There they set up the wedding and the bride was married off to the boy.

She took the cow that the parents had given to her and together with him she went to the boy's village.

73038. Łˤora-uyra ɣudƛ’aza baħarayä xediwqor eƛin, sasaq ziya teƛanix bazaryaɣorno ik’i, nełaƛ bäqiru micxiryoƛ deber mi šeƛ’u risoƛin. ⇫ ¶

After three or four days the bride told her husband: "Go to the market tomorrow in order to sell the cow, and buy clothes for the money you get for it."

Через три-четыре дня невеста сказала мужу: «Сходи завтра на базар, продай корову и купи себе одежду».

73039. Hudayziko, boc’no adäza ziyan xediw bazaryaɣor ik’in. ⇫ ¶

The next day the husband chased the cow to the market.

73040. Yisił dandir c’axru bełiqa esirno, yedu ziya naɣor bižix miƛin. ⇫ ¶

A hunter whom he met asked him: "Where are you bringing that cow to?"

73041. Bazaryaɣor teƛa bižixƛin, yisä yałru šebin esin. ⇫ ¶

"I'm bringing it to the market for selling." he told the things as they were.

73042. Bełiqa eƛin, horo, oxi där tupiƛ ħažoƛin. ⇫ ¶

The hunter said: "Come, exchange it for my rifle!"

Охотник предложил ему поменять ее на ружье.

73043. Ziyan tupiƛ teƛno, yeda uži uyxor bazaryaɣor ik’in, žan teƛnogon šeƛ’u risanƛin. ⇫ ¶

The boy sold his cow for the rifle and went straight to the market with the intention of selling it and buying clothes.

Юноша поменял корову на ружье и пошел прямо на базар, чтобы продать его и купить одежду.

73044. Dandir c’axru bazarganza esirno, ža tupi teƛxosi ana miƛin. ⇫ ¶

Some merchants whom he met asked him: "Aren't you selling this rifle?"

Встретившиеся купцы спросили, не продает ли он ружье.

73045. Yedun teƛno där šeƛ’u risa retinƛin, eƛin yisä. ⇫ ¶

"I want to sell it and buy clothes.", he said.

Он объяснил им, что хочет его продать и купить одежду.

73046. Elur k’ukyoƛ ħažoƛin, ƛ’iri butin žedu. ⇫ ¶

"Exchange it for a cap with us!", they proposed.

Они предложили поменять его на шапку.

73047. Bazarganzar k’ukyoƛ tupin ħažin, žedudetow sadaq xizor utin nexxo zown ža. ⇫ ¶

Having exchanged the rifle for a cap with the merchants, he returned with them.

Поменял ружье на шапку и с ними пошел обратно.

73048. Buqbetaxor yizi sida iħuz lilyoxor baynosi, muši begiranix bazarganbin, yedan q’ˤida bičin. ⇫ ¶

Toward sunset, when they came to a river bank, the merchants and he sat down to take a break.

К послеобеденному времени они добрались до берега одной реки, купцы решили посидеть вместе с ним, чтобы передохнуть.

73049. Iħäy łi ħaƛanƛin yeda wˤałer užinosi, q’ˤimƛ’ay bˤoƛ’un bik’in k’uk, ƛ’iräy wˤałer łiya bižin. ⇫ ¶

With the intention to drink from the river, he bowed down and the cap fell down off is head and was carried downstream by the water.

And he stood there looking behind it.

Now the merchants said to him: "We know that you won't go home tonight."

73052. Šida di idur ik’ixanu, dey šebi ɣˤutkuya rik’äsiƛin, eƛin yisä. ⇫ ¶

"Why can't I go home? Did something burn in my house?", he said.

73053. Debin barusno c’ok’ini raqƛin, eƛin bazarganza. ⇫ ¶

"You will have a quarrel with your wife." said the merchants.

73054. Xizyo yizi bazarganza yisił roƛƛo risno, neširu debin barusno c’ok’ini roqnäy, debi yałru maʕišat elur biča yoł, bercingo bara mi iduɣor egirnäy, ele enza łˤoran q’urec’niƛ’osi q’ay ħalalgotow deber biča yołƛin. ⇫ ¶

Then the merchants decided among themselves: "In the evening, if your wife makes a scandal, then your fortune will be ours, and when a good wife lets you into the home, all the articles on these three mules shall be yours."

Затем те купцы договорились с ним: «Если у тебя с женой будет скандал, все свое состояние ты отдашь нам, а если жена тебя примет хорошо, весь этот товар на трех мулах будет твой».

When they came to their village, the merchants let the husband to his wife, but themselves waited listening at their door.

As soon as he opened the door and stepped inside, his wife came toward him and hugged him.

Afterwards she asked: "How was the trade?"

73059. Xedya esin, sosi di bełiqur tupiƛ ziya ħažis, xizyo ža tupin teƛno bazarganzaqay k’uk bissi, ža k’ukgon iħay łi ħaƛaƛin wˤałer užinosi, q’ˤimƛ’ay bˤoƛ’un bik’in łiya boɣno bižisƛin. ⇫ ¶

The husband told: "At first I exchanged the cow for a rifle with a hunter, then I sold the rifle and boughta cap from some merchants, this cap fell down from my head while I was about to drink from the river and the water carried it away."

Муж рассказал: «Сначала я обменял корову на ружье, потом продал это ружье купцам и купил у них шапку, а та шапка упала в реку, и ее унесло, когда я нагнулся попить воды».
